    Restoration of mid 80's Pioneer Flightstar Spyder single place. This is a nice looking U/L-style machine but was too heavy for Pt 103 at 280+lbs. My goal in this experiment (the most interesting part of EAA for me) is to get the weight down to 253.99 lbs or less. This example had been modified by previous owners with some disregard to GA ideas, so first thing I did after purchase was to render it non-flyable just in case I may have been tempted. 

    So far I have taken 16lbs of the engine (Rotax 503 - which may be too much hp for top speed limit). Another item is the throttle lever, 4oz off that - plus other do-dads on a diet. Every bit helps, right?

    I am enjoying the exercise and if I fail, well - lets wait and see!

    The activity comes and goes, we talk so often a lot of times it's easier to talk in person. But this is a good place to document things. Considering it takes years to build, this will still be a good thread 5 years from now!
