I have heard a lot of Oshkosh talk about the chapter and now that plane fun is over and we have 1 month till Oshkosh I think we should start getting plans together. There are two camps if you will. Those that are flying over and those that are driving over. It seems that every year there is the "well I'll go if I have a place to stay" and "I'll fly over if someone can take some stuff for me".

I don't think anyone has the time and desire to have oshkosh meetings but if we could get somewhat organized it would help everyone out. If you have any desire or intentions of going please post them here. I'm going to try pestering everyone I see (I know a lot of people don't get on the website) and I update this accordingly.

That said please just post a brief plan of your intentions like this:

I'd like to fly fly my Aventura over and stay the whole week. If that is not possible I'm hoping to be able to fly over with someone else (which may make me dependent on there schedule). I would like to be able to stay in a camper if there is space, if not I'll bring a tent. Regardless I'm hoping I can bum some space with someone that is driving over to bring a bike and if possible my paramotor.

My grandson and I plan on driving over on Sunday.  We will be in a pick-up towing a pop top camper.  We will depart for home on Thursday morning.

First official day is a Monday.

I'm going to be there the entire week.

I have nobody coming with me.

Not decided when I am leaving.

Thinking about getting there a day or so earlier to nab a closer spot.

However, Dave Horvath mentioned something about warbirds camping.

Not sure if I want to volunteer at training command.

Bill David is thinking I should pull his camper with my Durango.

Can't fly the Piet and drive my Durango at the same time.

I'm bringing my hammock.  See what hammock camping is all about.

Planning on driving Wednesday and leaving early Sunday morning. I typically tent camp in camp Scholler. I will be in a minivan with at least one seat available. My brother in law and one of my sons are also coming.

Thanks for the feedback gentleman. Hopefully, it keeps coming. I put together a little calendar (link below) that I will update that shows everyone's plans. I think we are going to have a good turnout from 582 this year.

Steve - if you are driving and tent camping would you be able to tow Bill's trailer so that the Dude can fly the Piet? Piet needs to be there, despite what the cranky ground control of vintage have to say. I'll fly it if my airplane can't make the trip but we need a plan A.

Hi all - been away from things for a while.

I will be going to O this year (all being well) and I'll likely be taking my ol' van and there'll be room for a passenger or two, and I have a hitch. So if you don't mind riding in a less than pristine vehicle drop me a note or call. I have no particular schedule but likely out Sunday/Monday, return Thurs/Fri or whatever works best for a small team. Camp out at Scholler.

    Matt,

Flying the Piet solo to and from Oshkosh again doesn't sound appealing.

If your plane isn't ready to go, maybe you can switch with me.

Otherwise, my plans are to leave on Sunday in my Durango pulling Bill's camper.

Probably leave Friday before it get's too crazy.

Need to add an trailer brake controller to the Durango.   May need some help with this.

    Thanks

Okay Mate, I put you down for going Monday and coming Back Friday. Partially because I have to put something and partially because that will fill in the schedule best.

Dude and Steve, duly noted, no hitch and no Piet.

Also, not having trailer brakes to tow a pop up would not be the end of the world. It a light trailer and your Durango has plenty of braking force. I have had plenty of headaches that will testify to that.  You towing that camper will probably have better stopping distance than many of the cars driving around you. Yes, a small chilld could run out in front of you and you could hit and kill them from a slightly diminished braking force resulting in a life lost and a court case robbing you of all your money and freedom. Don't fear though because you likely won't even make it to that point on account of a terrorist taking all of us out due to the absence of a full strip search at the airshow. Be safe. That said, it's a pretty simple thing to install. When I looked into it for my car I recall it just being a lead going into the controller that gets a signal from the brake lights.

I have updated the sheet and I removed myself as it is not looking like I am going to be able to take the vacation all week thanks to some conflicting work projects. I'm going to try to hitch a ride out for the last weekend but it will have to be last minute.
